Sensors are mounted on pilings at west end of pier.
NOAA Nautical Chart 18740
Wave Gauge Specifications:
The gauge is mounted on the second piling from the north, on the west end of the pier, 15.13 meters below the top surface of the pier deck. The pier deck is 10.25 meters above mean low low water (MLLW, the commonly-referenced zero tide mark). Measurements are made using a Paros pressure sensor.

Wind Gauge Specifications:
The gauge is mounted 20.2 meters above MLLW on the structure at the west end of Scripps Pier. Measurements are made using a RM Young digital anemometer.

Temperature Gauge Specifications:
The air temperature gauge is mounted 6.1 meters above MLLW at the west end of Scripps Pier. The sea temperature measurements were made with Platinum Resistance Thermometers (PRT) on the second piling from the north, on the west end of the pier. The mid-column readings are from a depth of 3.0 meters, while the bottom readings are from a depth of 5.6 meters.

Water temperatures and additional Scripps Pier met data are available through SCCOOS and the NEOCO database.

CDIP's major funding contributors are the US Army Corps of Engineers and the California Department of Boating and Waterways.
