Forecasting Waves? Sensors on buoys and satellites all around the Pacific Ocean allow scientists to forecast wave conditions several days in advance. The predicted wave heights are predicted (right) for Point Conception and San Francisco. cdip.ucsd.edu Flooding Index: Tide and Swell Forecast If big storm waves arrive at the same time as a high tide, watch out! By combining the forecasted wave heights with the tide forecast for a location such as Dana Point, this chart indicates how high water levels are likely to rise at the beach.
