Climate Change

The wave climate for any coastal location involves the seasonal variation in the wave intensity – waves are typically bigger in the winter than the summer. But this element of the overall global climate is also subject to longer term cycles of variation driven by large scale events like El Ninos or La Ninas, and possibly by the effects of greenhouse gasses. The more than 30 years of data in the CDIP archives is an invaluable resource for oceanographers involved in the study of wave climates.
